Being a Natural Health Practitioner
August 23rd, 2007 by Alexander KohlAre you a natural health practitioners that has spent weeks over many years to receive the best training possible? Are your patients thrilled with your treatment? Do you feel wonderful when you help someone? Yet, your practice is not where you want it to be. You just do not have enough patients to cover your living expenses.Do not worry, there are two pieces of good news:
- You are not alone.
- You can change it.
You are not alone
You probably know that already. There are many other practitioners who are in a similar situation. And how many do you know that have a thriving practice?
The reasons can mostly be found in beliefs of what someone can do or does not like doing:
- “I don’t like selling.”
- “I don’t have the money to spend on marketing.”
- “Marketing does not work anyway.”
- “I am still making up my mind what I really want to do.”
All of these are valid reasons why things are not progressing. So how can they be overcome?
You can change it
You have probably heard about the power of positive thinking. And you might have even tried to apply that to your practice and did not get anywhere. Well, our subconscious is the more stubborn part of the brain. After feeding it one thought pattern for years, it will not just change over night. Especially if it gets mixed messages: “I can do that” one day and the next: “I am just kidding myself, this will not work anyway”.
But there is another way of applying positive thinking that does not have any negative patterns attached to it. It is to say:
I want to do it!
The ‘do it’ is your vision of a practice and there is more to say about that. But today, the focus lies on ‘I want to’.
Your turn
‘I want to’ puts you in control. It is an active, positive affirmation of achieving something. A whole range of questions follow:
- Why do you want to?
- What are the consequences of doing it and of not doing it?
- Why would not doing it worry you?
- Do you want to take full responsibility?
- Do you want to live with the consequences of doing it?
- Why does that excite you?
Write down your answers. They will be a guide and a reminder in the future. Let your thoughts flow, write down other questions that come from your answers and answer those, too. Take your time, re-read your questions and answers over a few days and see whether the answers change, whether deeper answers come up.
And if the outcome is that you do want to do it, write it under all the other text as a summary and conclusion:
I want to do it!
If you want to do it, I hope that this site supports you in that. It is my aim to support natural health professional.
